I have taken a PhD in Chemistry at the University of Palermo where I applied computational methods (combining docking, molecular dynamics simulations and QM/MM calculations) to study the interaction of small molecules with B- and G-quadruplex DNA.

I came to Trieste as a postdoctoral researcher in the group of Alessandra Magistrato to develop novel aromatase inhibitors using similar computational tools. This enzyme is an important target in estrogen-dependent breast cancer. Currently, I have a FIRC-AIRC fellowship to investigate the mechanism of action of spliceosome modulators and to rationalize the impact of recurrent splicing factor mutations in hematological cancers.
