Giovanni Vinai (born 1986) received his Ph.D. degree in Physics in 2013 at the University of Grenoble, France, where he defended the dissertation on "Scalability and improvement of exchange bias properties for Thermally Assisted-MRAM" at Spintec laboratory.

He has been conducting research in magnetism and spectroscopy at CNR-IOM in Trieste at APE-HE beamline since 2014, firstly as post-doc, then as Research scientist.

He is responsible of the MOKE & Masked deposition system and he is local contact and reference for the APE-HE beamline in UHV conditions for XAS and XMCD spectroscopic characterizations.

His research interests include magnetic heterostructures and the magneto-electric properties of nanostructured materials and thin films. The class of materials of interest includes multiferroics and multiferroic heterostructures, hybrid magnetic interfaces, complex oxides and 2D materials.
