APE-LE Beamline Responsible

I am senior scientist and beamline responsible for APE -LE  beamline at CNR-IOM that operates within Elettra and NFFA-TS/EU facilities.
After graduation at the University of Sarajevo, I did my PhD at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, where I started exploiting ultraviolet and X-ray radiation in the investigation of  electronic properties of superconducting and related oxides. This made an impact on my overall career path that is characterised by the exploitation of extraordinary properties of synchrotron radiation in the investigation of electronic properties of novel materials.

Scientific interests:
Highly correlated electronic systems, low-dimensional electronic systems and emergent phenomena induced by spin-orbit coupling (topological insulators, Dirac/Weyl semimetals, transition metal dichalcogenides), graphene, transition metal oxides, superconductivity, magnetism, metal-insulator transitions, surfaces, molecular films on surfaces, intermolecular interactions and charge reorganisation on metal-molecule interfaces.

Technical skills an competences:
Photoelectron spectroscopies with conventional and synchrotron radiation sources; ultra-high vacuum (UHV) techniques, UHV compatible surface preparation techniques and thin film deposition, low energy electron diffraction (LEED), Laue X-ray diffraction, transport measurements; participation in construction and commissioning of beamline APE at Elettra synchrotron.
