VITALITY – Ecosystem Innovation, Digitisation and Sustainability for the Diffuse Economy in Central Italy – is a project financed with the Mission “From Research to Business” of the PNRR (Mission 4, Component 2, Investment 1.5) and involves the participation of 24 subjects from universities, research institutions and private entities from Abruzzo, Marche and Umbria. These territories have socio-economic, urban and territorial characteristics that unite them, in particular: low population density; their significant historical, environmental and landscape value; the spread of the production sector and the relative concentration of infrastructures along the coast; the widespread presence of valuable primary productions and finally a structured and significant presence of Universities and Research Centres.
CNR-IOM participates in Spoke9 and in Spoke10.
Spoke 9 is dedicated to the science and technology of nanostructured materials and their applications in innovative devices. The main objective of the project is to carry out a research activity aimed at supporting the Innovation Ecosystem strategy for the development plan of the Umbria Region, through the creation of a new technological park – POLO NANOMAT – where the research regarding nanomaterials will be carried out in close contact with companies and where the birth of original spin-offs and start-ups is expected.
Spoke10 focuses on the science and technology of biomaterials and more specifically on biobased, biooriginated, biocompatible materials and bioplastics. Biomaterials are a group of innovative materials of natural or synthetic origin designed for biotechnological applications in the environmental, biomedical and industrial fields. The research activities will be carried out in close contact with companies and industrial enterprises. The project involves the involvement of local authorities and the creation of spin-offs and original startups that will settle in the newly created technology park – POLO BIOMAT – and will support the Innovation Ecosystem of the Umbria Region’s development plan.
