IOM headquarters is located in Trieste, Italy, in the premises of the AREA Science Park and Elettra-Sincrotrone Trieste.
The secondary offices of CNR-IOM are located at the International School of Advanced Studies (SISSA) in Trieste, at the University of Perugia and at the University of Cagliari.
Experimental scientific activities also take place at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) in Grenoble.
Moreover, a support organizational unit is located in Genoa, which provides management, administrative and technical services.
