M. Pedio research is focused on fundamental physics of condensed matter, as well as on the use of electron - absorption spectroscopies applied to nanostructured materials and their modelization.

She is responsible of the SIPE laboratory at TASC (Trieste) focused on Inverse Photoemission. Part of her activity concerns the design, commissioning and use of new instruments (Labs,Synchrotrons and noe FEL) that exploit the light - matter interaction for advanced characterization of complex new materials and low dimensional systems.
